Join Design Museum Everywhere, The Kelsey and Mikiten Architecture on Wednesday, March 13, from 9-10am PST / 12-1pm EST for an Inclusive Design Standards Forum. The Kelsey is a non-profit organization whose work centers the perspectives of people with disabilities to inform better housing policies, design standards, and development strategies. Mikiten Architecture is a dynamic, socially and environmentally responsible firm made up of national-award-winning experts in Universal Design, Ecological Design, and housing of all types. Together, they drive public-private partnerships and unlock funding for affordable, inclusive community housing.

The Inclusive Design Standards Forum is a presentation and discussion that introduces the Inclusive Design Standards developed by The Kelsey and engages you—designers, creatives, and professionals from various fields. The Kelsey aims to teach their standards while promoting and amplifying this incredible resource for disability-forward housing development.

The forum is perfect for co-collaborators interested in creative, accessible, and inclusive multifamily design and development; professionals in various fields who want to prioritize projects around racial equity, health, and safety, environmental justice, cognitive access, hearing and acoustics, vision, and individual support needs; and organizations and community advocates who want to learn more about our design standards and how to get involved. This program builds upon the focus of the recent Design Museum Magazine Issue 026, Inclusive Design, and was inspired by the featured article Accessibility & Inclusion in Housing Design by Anne Riggs, Associate/Inclusive Design Lead at David Baker Architects.

This Design Museum LIVE virtual event is free for Members and open to the public with a $5 donation to the Design Museum Education Fund.
