Sketch Series: Draw Footwear with Michael DiTullo

You’re stuck at home, why not learn to draw from the experts?

The human brain is wired to communicate through pictures. Even in our ever-increasingly-digitized world, representing your ideas quickly and visually is just as important as ever. Let’s have some fun and draw together.

Rapid visualization, aka Sketching, is a skill that can be learned and practiced. And it’s a skill that never goes out of style. We’re producing a multi-month series on sketching, featuring the best in the biz, across every design field — because every design discipline has a unique way of communicating visually, and we can all learn from each other.

In June we have Michael DiTullo — Michael can draw anything, but for us, he’ll focus on footwear: sneakers, shoes, boots, and more. At Nike, Michael worked directly with professional athletes, including Michael Jordan, to develop footwear designs and apparel brand identities. Michael knows shoes. For more than 20 years Michael DiTullo has been designing iconic products and brand experiences for some of the best brands in the world including Nike, Google, Motorola, Honda, and Hasbro.

Michael will demonstrate his sketching techniques using pen, marker, and paper — showing how he develops both form and details. Join us, follow along with the techniques, or sit back and enjoy the insights and skills of a world-class sketcher.
