Join us for the July installation of Design Museum Mornings!

Though we live in the most creative period of human existence—demonstrated by everything from our perpetually advancing technology to our passionate social movements—many workplace facilities continue to reflect an outdated mode of thought. While cubicles were once an effective solution to the untamed chaos of the workplace, they encourage a kind of formulaic, inside-the-box thinking that today’s organizations have simply outgrown. Successful companies require settings that encourage risk-taking, creativity, and collaboration.

Consciously designing a company’s facilities, structure, and culture can redefine the workplace as an engaging environment that fuels innovation. The Living Office is an approach to office design that fosters the creative and intellectual growth of individual members. By allowing the people within the office to thrive, the entire workplace is revitalized. Join Living Office specialist Jen Teckenburg the morning of July 21st to discover how deliberate design can bolster productivity, increase satisfaction, raise revenue, and more.

By considering both activities and settings in the context of an organization’s goals, as well as the attributes that make the company and its people unique, a design team can implement a diverse mix of settings that reflects the organization’s unique culture while also supporting the work people are doing.—Abdallah Fadel, Director of New Ventures and Technology Solutions, Herman Miller

Taking Place at Pacific Office Furnishings the morning of July 21st, this speaker will discuss how design that prioritizes individuals can revolutionize the workplace and increase an organization’s ability to thrive. What is the Center for Workplace Innovation?

Well-designed workplaces translate into higher productivity, happier teams, longer employee retention, and increased revenue. Workplace innovation is a multidisciplinary endeavor, involving many design disciplines: architects, interior designers, furniture designers, product designers, graphic designers – it also involves business leaders, entrepreneurs, behavioral scientists, organizational behavior experts, and more.

The Center for Workplace Innovation at Design Museum Foundation exists to demonstrate how design and innovation can transform the way we work. The Center is part thank tank and part resource – a hub for content and inspiration, cultivating a global community of thought leaders to advance the field. Our goal is to educate and inspire, to drive change in workplaces around the world.
