Design Museum Portland On May 22nd, Design Museum Portland, along with Kelley Roy (Founder ofPortland Made) hosted a breakfast roundtable discussion with Susan S. Szenasy, Publisher/Editor in Chief ofMetropolis Magazine and metropolismag.com. We were joined by a small group of Portland leaders representing manufacturing, education, small business and economic development for a conversation around the future of manufacturing, the rise of artisanal manufacturing and the related maker movement, and the critical need for workforce training in Portland. The discussion was part of a year-long series of national conversations, organized by Ann Hudner (Principal at Hudner Strategies), exploring issues of design advocacy and ethics while celebrating Szenasy, Design Advocate, a new title published by Metropolis Books and distributed by ARTBOOK. The morning saw a spirited and insightful conversation that left all of those in attendance thinking more creatively. Thank you to Ann Hudner, Kelley Roy and most of all to Susan- a true hero in the design world!
