Who’s Coming to the Urban Innovation Festival This Weekend?

July 25, 2016 | | View Comments

Our Urban Innovation Festival is this weekend! Will we be seeing you there? Check out all that the festival has to offer and plan to stop by, or stay the weekend as we change our city through design.

The Community

The festival is designed for the community! This is a unique opportunity to give your feedback to designers as they work to activate the area under the I-93 overpass! They need your help and will be asking for your advise! Walk around and observe the team’s process while you answer community oriented questions on large whiteboards!

The following Community Advisors will be there to give their feedback as well: Jonathan Berk, Jeff Macklin, Courtney Ho, Cynthia Soo Hoo, Sameer Bhoite, Jason Talbot, Robert + Jill Morris, Ann McQueen, Sheila Grove, Hakim Cunningham and Rory Bledsoe. Read more about them here!

The festival is for everyone! There will be a large Lego Build Table for kid’s and adults alike to design their very own solution to the area under I-93. Join in the fun and play on the Imagination Playground from Design Museum’s Extraordinary Playscapes! You can play for hours or enjoy the picnic tables and adirondack chairs and just lounge!

The Teams

We have 10 of the most creative and caring teams we could find! Come meet the folks from Autodesk, Bose, cbt, Essential Design, Fidelity Labs, MassArt, Payette, Shepley Bulfinch, Stantec, and Wentworth Institute of Technology and help them help you!

Want to learn more about these 10 incredible teams? We interviewed them – check it out here!

We could never do a program of this scale without the incredible support of our presenting sponsors and supporters. Join us July 29-31st and see why they are all supporting this exciting program!

Presenting sponsors include: ArtPlace, Microsoft, Autodesk, Viber, MOO, Essential Design and GTI Properties.

Supporters of the Urban Innovation Festival include: Mass Cultural Council, Scalable Display Technologies, The BSA Foundation, MassDOT, The Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics and Collective Next.

We are so lucky to have a long list of enthusiastic volunteers who will be pulling the whole event together! Want to volunteer? Email info@designmuseumboston.org to get involved!
