Play serves not only as an integral part of a child’s development, but also as a way to bring families closer together. Playgrounds act as a space to facilitate this bonding as well as foster social interaction and build problem-solving skills. Join us on a tour of our exhibition Extraordinary Playscapes and learn about how playground design has been utilized around the world to improve and enhance the lives of countless families. Following the tour, both children and adults are invited to design and build their perfect playscape.
This program is proudly presented in partnership with BSA Space.
This family program is designed for parents and children aged five to 10 years old. A maximum ratio of one adult per three children is required. Tickets are $10 per person (both adults and children), $8 for Friends of BSA Space* and BSA members.
Family Design Day programs encourage children and adults to observe, explore, and design together. In these two-hour hands-on workshops, families are introduced to architecture and design through exhibit tours, walking tours, or slideshows and then complete a hands-on design activity. Architects and design educators lead the activities focused on the built environment of Boston and the world (or universe!).
BSA Space is one block from South Station. Enter through the BSA Space entrance and go up the green staircase. The program begins promptly at 10:30 am.
