We were once again blown away this weekend by the power of our community. In the midst of empowered voices came visual creativity from young and old in the form of #SignDesignPDX.
Check out some of our favorites below!
There were an estimated 100,000 people who attended the #womensmarchpdx yesterday, and we were 5 of them. We walked throughout the streets of downtown to not only stand up, but to show that we will RISE UP. We demonstrated peacefully and we're a part of a progressive movement that will continue to shape our lives moving forward. I am a #nastywoman and I will ROAR🐯👭🏙💖
Though I surround myself with those who share the same beliefs as me regarding human rights, equality, and social justice, I felt like we were just a small group that couldn't impact the change we want to see in this world. The #womensmarch changed that view for me. I came across this quote from Robert F. Kennedy that has become a reminder for me, and I hope for you: "Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events. It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance." #womensmarchpdx
And finally, a huge THANK YOU to the Portland Police Department for, well, being awesome.
